All of the 12 years + students were randomly secretly goth, but still mainstream enough to not qualify as fully goth. There's definitely more of a pervasive "goth" sensibility amongst the youth of Orange County... So it's not so striking to me as it might be to someone not familiar with this bizarro place in which I now reside.

a big lightbulb went off in my head yesterday while sitting at the nurses station, taking in all the wretched gossip: "nurses are bitches!!" it hit me so hard, so fast that i wanted to jump up on my swivel chair, balance on the toes of my rubber white soma-tooth-marked clogs and proclaim it at the tops of my lungs. then i realized i'd just be fulfilling their destinies, succumbing to their nitpics, following in their danskos, and perpetuating unfortunate reality. instead, i kept my seat and resumed the book i'd been studying.

nurses like to eat their young, in the grand tradition of cat mothers everywhere, gobbling the little ones up for protein, sucking down the entirety of their own placentas to suit their very selfish needs: survival of the fittest of bitches.

i'm gonna prevail. i just know it.
